Brrrrrrrr Rabbit! Again!

We got some icy today! Traffic is snarly, wrecks are happening. ALL the cats are inside snuggled down. Yep. Wouldn’t it be nice if I had my car in a warm garage? yeah. perfect world.

Hopefully this won’t deter any clients from coming in this week. We need one good push for that last paycheck. Woot Woot!!! just realized that TODAY is payday! Halakaleem. Now I can get a few presents still needed bought and wrapped. I have a thing with the purple pool gals tonight. Roger is bringing my bed up on Wednesday and may stay the night. Friday night I’m SUPER excited about…comedy club with lots of friends. If I haven’t mentioned it to you…Cindy? Ringo family? anyone else?…get with me because it’ll be just fun. Everybody needs to belly laugh the weekend before Christmas, right? right. My family celebrations are this weekend so the Arkansas peeps will be here…whew. big stuff right on until Christmas.

CAN YOU FREAKIN BELIEVE IT’S NEXT WEEK???
crazy shit.

Chrome is making her way back to the state. I’m tentatively planning a gathering for the Saturday after Christmas. We’re crossing fingers here! If not maybe a Sunday afternoon early evening thing. I will let everybody know about that too.

Our company party was fun. The pre and the post party were her at Casa Zelda and it was just fine. Didn’t feel too terribly crowded and everyone had fun and snacked and drank and good times were had by all! We had one unfortunate elbow to my nose incident…All The Single Ladies…dancing in the living room. Laughing and crying at the same time!!! Anyways. success.

so. That’s it. I’ve got a busy week. We all probably have a busy week. Life is crazy. Take some time to breath and laugh. Stay warm!

Out for the Count

I got home after work last night, after running some errands and doing a little Christmas shopping, ate dinner and promptly fell asleep on the couch watching the Heisman Ceremony. . . and didn’t even see who the winner was till today. I woke up about three hours later, around 9:30 and took myself to the bed. Where I stayed until about 7 this morning.

So…here’s an example of how things just always work out. I thought I was going to get things spiffy last night because today I was going to have to do Kylee’s hair (girl from work) and thought Roger was coming up to bring my bed. Turns out she’s wearing a hat and he’s coming up Wednesday. Today is clear for me to spiff, (did most of the work last weekend so it’s a topical spiffing) and for some minor light repair on the outside. Redhead to the rescue again.

I would like to get a pedicure today. I haven’t had one since returning from NYC in September. Yep. It’s lookin rough down there…and I’m wearing open toe shoes to the party tonight. I found a fabulous shiney top at Target last night for 20 bucks so that’s good. It’s that bright magenta color that is one of my favorites so I’ll feel good too. anyways, I may go around the corner to the little cheap place and have my feet and nails done. Just a thought.

I bought this last night at the bookshop. I love it merely for the cover. It’s brilliant. and she maybe nuckin futs…but it’s a flavor that I can relate to so I love her still! I’ll let you know how it is.

I’m going to have a little more coffee, finish watching CBS Sunday Morning and then get to crackin on the house. Dyson, mopping, putting things elsewhere and a little laundry then I’m done! Hope you have a great Sunday. relax. enjoy.

Oh! I’m going to see Milk tomorrow…anyone seen it yet?

Karaoke and Cowboys

So I went out on a school night. Last night. To celebrate the successful defense of Seth’s Thesis!!! And his graduation today!!! Wahoo! We had a blast. Mgirl and I met up with the redhead and the rest of our comedy friends. We ate some delish mexican food and went to karaoke. Brilliant stuff. A great night…

Except I’m really tired! We were in Norman, so that made the drive home–well–a drive home. bedtime was after one a.m.

Tonight—we Cowboy Up!!!

Graham’s is a throwback to the oil boom and the 80’s country. There’s rock and roll on one side and country music on the other. The clothes are straight out of 1985. The hair…even worse. It’s like a time capsule. . . it’s own little eco system. they don’t even take credit cards!

So what’s that you say? Why do we go?

It’s the best people watchin this side of the State Fair!

and sometimes I get to dance with a guy that will spin me.

THAT is worth all the mullets. All of them.

How was your Friday? Mine was great. I got TWO fifty dollar Christmas tips. This is fabulous. And this weekend I’m taking care of returning the door and getting money back from that. Things are going to look up here pretty soon. I can feel it.

I’m just thankful we’re not iced in. They in the New England region are socked in. We were too this time last year. Gah. That sucked ass. Sending warm thoughts of generators to our friends up north. I’m off to pour my ass into the tight jeans and wear my vintage NYC pearl snap.

Maybe we can get some pictures up!

MUAH!

Ain’t That Some Shit?

Here goes. you may need a drink for this one.

I got a contractor for the garage door installation. Got it, paid for it, ready to go. They call yesterday, “can you be here today between 3-5?” uhhhh shit no. that’s the one time today I have clients!! but it’s the last opening until late next week. ok. wait hang on. I call Smurf and he comes to my rescue. He’ll come hang out while the guy does his magic.

We get all of that settled and details laid out and I go on with my clients (thank you GOD!) and my phone rings.

this garage door opener won’t work. in fact, there isn’t one what will work. ya see, there’s this “drop down” in the attic ceiling that’s been fashioned up there that won’t allow a normal garage door opener bla bla bla fucking bla. the garage door itself? it’s not a normal size. it’s been FUCKING CUT DOWN TO SIZE. basically, you’re fucked. fucked. fucked.

Ledge? why yes, thank you. I’ll climb up!
Crazy? Oh yes, I’ve been running low. make mine a double.
A side of Complete Meltdown to go with your drink? FUCK YES I WILL. bring it on.

and Kikimama is having runny poop. Remember when i told you all how she was clingy? something is wrong. I must get her to the doc hopefully tomorrow.

and I’m having the company Christmas pre-party on Sunday. and the house is primed, just a few things to put in closets and things to set up but that will happen this weekend.

and I have a mouse. I’m sure of it. Sambo is on the hunt. I’ve moved the dishes out of the pantry to enable him in his murdering. But we’ve got company coming so he’s on a time limit.

and Stormy has begun to eat my Christmas tree.
and the tree skirt.

So. after the meltdown that was of mythical porportions, I looked up and realized that bitch of a full moon has me PMS’ing with the vengence of a prom queen that’s been stood up. but while in the midst of it, all I could think about was that I bought a bad house. The biggest solo decision I’ve ever made and I made a bad one. Badder than bad. Worser than worse. pathetic. and of course I crawl up onto the cross and nail myself to it and before I can bust out with a verse or two of Swing Low Sweet Chariot—I snap out of it.

fucking full moon and hormones. it really is uncivilized.

Ok. I have a plan. I’m returning the 182.00 garage door opener back to Lowes. We’ll just credit that right back to my card. That will make it happy. I will also get the 110.00 back for the installation. I will call my childhood handy friend and have him come over, and just get the garage door to the point of staying open and not falling on my car so I can use it. And fix it so it will lock at night. I will pay him with cinnamon rolls and a bottle of tequila. and some money too. but hopefully not a lot.

I will get Kiki to the vet tomorrow when I am supposed to go to weight watchers. I feel like my ass and thighs have spread. Could be the glue/chicken noodles I’ve eaten every day this week. Could be that.

OH, and because she’s probably riddled with the brain cancer, she jumped up on the cabinet/stove tonight and I think she burnt her little pads on the still hot burner that was on from my grilled cheese/glue that I ate for supper. bless her little heart. she’s living in the linen closet in the hallway this week.

Sammy has a few more days to kill that mouse or I’m crackin skulls.

speaking of–I need to get to Dr. McCrackin. with all the manic meltdowns, I”m sure my spine is as crooked as a dog’s hind leg. why not, right?

so that’s been my week up till now.

How’s yours?

Seven Hundred Strong

The Circus hit it’s 700th post with the dancing elf. Seven HUNDRED posts~~~crazy! I can’t imagine not having this place. Thank you Kizz for being the first, for emailing me saying “i’m doing this writing thing here. but i don’t want anyone to know about it yet” Then Gert. It’s an outlet that I don’t know what I’d do without! so…

Happy Seven Hundred to all the Circus Players!!! Huzzuah and Halakaleem!

Yesterday was one of my favorite days ever. I woke up early and started baking. I made a few dozen cinnamon rolls, a big pot of chicken and noodles, a loaf of bread. My house got cleaned and shiny and candles were lit. Love Actually was playing and I was watching my favorite bits over and over. The redhead came over and helped hang lights, for which I am eternally grateful. He took home a goodie bag that included all the above mention food items and the movie, as he’d never see it. He’s now a fan.

I then went to the play committee meeting, with rolls because I didn’t finish my homework so I had bribes. After that, several of us went to the movies. What’s that you say? What did I see?

Oh.
My.
God.

I saw this:

Have any of you seen it? Yes. Yes. Yes!!!! I was really exhausted after it was over. It is EPIC. All caps. EPIC and Grand and Amazing and Beautiful and Touching and Scary and Hearwrenching and Exciting and Gorgeous…..sigh. I love it. I may have to own it.

I sing you to me Miss Boss….And I will hear you.

SO FREAKIN GOOD.

I have a few errands to run today. One of which is getting a contractor for the garage door. Yep yep. Then mostly just snuggling in and reading scripts. I hope you are having a great day. Go see that movie. Seriously.

Angels All Around

It was a nutty week. Finally over. As I promised myself earlier, whilst getting over the cold, I’m staying in all weekend. No going out. No smokey bars. No bar tabs. Saving money. Saving myself.

However, I did go see a play last night. But I used my friends comp ticket, so nothing spent other than gas. The play was fun. I laughed. Probably not the evening that the director invisioned her audience having, but I laughed nonetheless. Very enjoyable evening.

I also got to have a little chat with one of the actors/my friend/director of a show coming up in the spring who said, again, that he wants me to be cast in the show! I’m super excited! it’s called Left Hand Singing. I read it twice, and really liked it. So…maybe in a month or so I’ll be starting rehearsals! Halakaleem!

Tonight, after a fairly busy day of working, I’m at home. I hit the grocery, got some dinner and am now settled in. OU plays in the Big 12 Championship here in a few minutes, so I’ll be tuned in to that. I also plan on doing some cleaning, picking up and vaccuming. I have a hankering to cook. Cinnamon rolls, maybe a batch tonight! Also picked up the stuff for chicken and noodles….well except I forgot the noodles. I’ll get them tomorrow. We’re supposed to get rain and snow the first of the week so I’m ready!

The redhead is coming over to help put lights on the house tomorrow. I’m having our company Pre-Christmas-Party-Party over here and want things to be just so. This next week has a few things booked already so my hopes are high for this evening and tomorrow. I may need to make a list.

There are angels all around me this week. I’ve recieved calls and emails and more help than I deserve about the garage door opener. I’m going Monday to get the contractor to install it. Many many many thanks.

Harry Potter is having himself a wee marathon on ABC Family today/tonight. I wish he’d bring his redheaded friend over here and wave that wand and make all my work finish up!

Good Saturday night to you all. I hope you’re either whooping it up Big Willy Style, or are nestled in, snug and sweet.

happy.

The Saga Continues!

First and foremost, Dad is fine. I spoke with him yesterday when he was on his way home. He had been dismissed from the hospital a few hours early and was feeling fine. Sounded better. Who knows if it was actually a result of the procedure or psychological but better nonetheless. So that’s good.

The garage door ate my lunch yesterday.
Lowes wanted 110.00 for installation above the cost of the machine. I figured, hell. I know a lot of guys, surely…surely.

uh. no.

I got rejected more times yesterday than I did in High School. One friend, the angry redhead what has a good streak, did say he could do it, but is leaving town this weekend and who knows when he’ll be back. I don’t like the fact that someone can get into my garage. I keep the door into my house double locked, but that’s just not the point. It’s a safety issue and a peace of mind issue.

So, I looked at it. There are DIY instructions online. The good redhead has offered his help. I think I may attack the sumbitch this Sunday. . .

but I don’t want to. I just want it to be done for me. Is that stupid? Naive? Ridiculous? Yes. Yes to all of it.

I spent yesterday vacillating between praying for clients and worrying to fever blister levels about money, spending 182.00 on a garage door opener, being pissed off that I had to do it, being pissed off that there wasn’t a man in my life, with a joint checking account and benefits who could help me with this…god. pathetic. But then I got a few more clients yesterday. One of my ladies gave me a 50.00 Christmas gift. It was better.

Breathe.

But I still don’t know whether or not to just hire someone or try to do it myself. I have two more people left to call, but they will cost. Hopefully less than the Lowes contractor. so that’s still an option.

Homeownership.

gottafuckingloveit.

OH. and here’s a little nugget. My homeowner’s warranty expired last month. I was going on the month that I bought the house, when actually the previous owners purchased the warranty when they first put the house on the market. I don’t have the extra 500 bucks to throw out for a new one right now. Not until taxes come in the spring. Let’s all just cross fingers!

I have an early morning meeting at work today, so I need to chop chop. Going to Carpenter Square to see their holiday show tonight. I have three friends acting in it. We’ll see. The director has tried to weave this bullshit connecting thread to Hamlet into it. good grief. It’s a HOLIDAY SHOW!!!! But I’ll get to hang with Rhonda and talk shop then home. Free ticket. wahoo!!! I’m considering staying in for the weekend as well. Big 12 football championship tomorrow night, but maybe…maybe I’ll just stay home watch from here, and get out my paints and be crafty with the cats. maybe I will.

Happy Friday to you Normals! Enjoy your day!!!

I Love That Tree!!!

Came home early last night. Finished my last client at 6:30. I usually work until 8 on Wednesdays. I’m not going to fill this post with more worry and gloom. We are all in this funk together I suppose. We will just hang onto hope.

A few bright sides to yesterday. My dad was having some heart work done. A heart cath to check for blockage. Well, it was originally scheduled for just that. But when they got there, they decided that was stupid. They would admit him into the hospital, do the cath, and if they DID find blockage they would put in a stint right then. Gah. Complicated. So. they did. And they DID find his right main artery to be 95% blocked. shit fuck damn. BUT they put in the stint and it should all be fine. He’ll be on some sort of meds (aspirin, Pl@vix) something like that for the rest of his life. But it’s all good.

What with all of the free time at work, I’ve been doing a lot of reading. Just finished Steve Martin’s Born Standing Up. Brilliant. I would find bits and text the redhead during the day because they are such similar brains. Yesterday I started on my first David Sederais book. Naked. LOVE IT thus far. he may make the boyfriend list. God but I love intelligent and funny men.

Let me just throw in one teensy weensy bitch. My garage. The automatic door opener is pulling a brokedown palace. SUCK. So ok. Fine. It’s gonna be ass cold today so last night I pull up, get out, manually lift the door which won’t stay all the way up. BUT i get it to say, try to pull in the car and I’ve forgotten to remove the recycle bin, so I hit (tap) the dryer with my car. shit. then the hangy down thingy from the garage door opener scrapes the SHIT off of the top of my car as I back it out as well as the actual door which has come down too. It’s not that I’m a papmered chick who must have an automatic door, the one I’ve got just wont stay open so I can get the car in! GAH. Lucy and Ethel park a car. So.I’m calling Overhead Door today for an estimate and will just charge it on the card. I know. I Know. but Dad is sick. It’s really cold. This is what single women do. We just take care of our stuff our own selves. Will keep you updated on that soon.

Ok kids. It’s off to work for me today. More reading, fresh hair for me. Have also promised myself to go back to WW and weigh in today. Gah. bleagh. Looking at pics of Kizz and Chrome has inspired me to get back to it.

Have a great day. Seriously. I know that times suck. We’re all broke. Jobs are shitty. Relationships are a bitch. But you know what? We’re still here!

We
Are
Still
Here!!!
