Reality Bites

Home at last. Home at last. My feet are numb, and so is my ass….back to work tomorrow. boo. hiss. spit.

Got home around noonish here on the frontier and immediately hit the sack. We overslept this morning. Chrome came stumbling in the room at 5am with her phone in her hand saying the car is here NOW! We both jumped up, put on our clothes and were out the door in five minutes. We got to the airport in 11 minutes. Seriously. Chrome lives close. thank God! we checked in outside with the sky hop guys and while I think we were both looking a little rough, I was worse because the man said something along the lines of “was this the first trip for your daughter?” Yes. yes it was. Madchen quickly corrected him but I was laughing too hard to care. We got inside, went and brushed our teeth, got some Starbucks, quick wink at the NYPD in line with me and off we went. The travel goddess was smiling on us throughout the entire trip.

It was a great trip. I don’t remember when I’ve laughed quite so much. that’s the fun thing about traveling with someone. The inside jokes that really are funny only to you. Needless to say I won’t bore you but I have some new laugh lines, that’s for sure.

We never made it to Yankee Stadium. that day was Sept 11. I’ll talk more about that experience and my impressions when my brain isn’t so mushy. But it rained all day that day, and we were tired.
We spent the morning in the salon, Dop Dop and I got my hair cut off. I love it. Glad to finally be back into the atmosphere that works well with my hair. It was fuzzy most every day there. hot. sticky. fuzzy wuzzy hair. anyway, i digress. That was also the birthday of one of the salon girls I was there with. We had plans for dinner that evening, plans that fell through location wise, (no Bourgeoisie Pig for us. next year.) but we wound up at the most perfect place for all of us. The Cowgirl Hall of Fame. I’d eaten brunch with Kizz and Gert there a few years ago. It was awesome. Everyone had a great time. The ‘ritas were strong and cold. the waiter who brought us our food was hot and strapping. His name was Patrick but his tee shirt said Pudding, so from that point we called him Puddin’. Hot slurpy Puddin. Kayse was a total bitch to him because god forbid her food was not right. (insert eye roll that sprains them in their sockets) we went onto a bar up the street and had some fun. We all took cabs back home and from there, Chrome, Madchen, and myself thought it prudent to stay out until 4 am. Actually I think the words out of Chrome’s mouth were something like, ” I know you are tired but we have GOT to stay and talk to him!!” (insert cute boy from Arkansas who lives across from said bar) so. 4am. then another full day. then waking up and flying this morning. oy vey.

Kizz and I had a great day together yesterday. we had some good hangover breakfast at the EDISON CAFE. so good. then to the TKTS booth for our show. We saw Curtains with David Hyde Pierce. DEEEE Lightful I say. She and I had the best time. Laughed and laughed and laughed. The show, I’ve heard isn’t perfect, bla bla bla. Whatever. I don’t have to dissect it to have a great time at the theatre. We laughed and made friends with all of the old folks out for their field trip. Grand day. We went back to Brooklyn with Kizz, Chrome went to rehearsal (the girl is so busy we hardly saw each other. busy bee.) We ate at Maggie Browns which is seriously right around the corner from Kizz’s apartment and took a car service home to Queens.

Tired.
Good.
tired.
It seems a million years ago I was soaking wet talking to The Pilot in the middle of the airport. This trip started off SO GOOD! hahaha!!!. Good week. Good for my mind. Good for my soul.

A million thanks to Chrome for the boarding. For living so close to my Bagel Boyfriend!! To Kizz for her unending patience and for guiding all of the newbies around the train! To both of them for loving me and being my friend. Big hugs to you both!!!

  1. Too short. Always too, too short. But worth it. Worth every second, every belly laugh and sprained arch and everything else. This will sustain me, thank you so much for being here.
