The Saga Continues!

First and foremost, Dad is fine. I spoke with him yesterday when he was on his way home. He had been dismissed from the hospital a few hours early and was feeling fine. Sounded better. Who knows if it was actually a result of the procedure or psychological but better nonetheless. So that’s good.

The garage door ate my lunch yesterday.
Lowes wanted 110.00 for installation above the cost of the machine. I figured, hell. I know a lot of guys, surely…surely.

uh. no.

I got rejected more times yesterday than I did in High School. One friend, the angry redhead what has a good streak, did say he could do it, but is leaving town this weekend and who knows when he’ll be back. I don’t like the fact that someone can get into my garage. I keep the door into my house double locked, but that’s just not the point. It’s a safety issue and a peace of mind issue.

So, I looked at it. There are DIY instructions online. The good redhead has offered his help. I think I may attack the sumbitch this Sunday. . .

but I don’t want to. I just want it to be done for me. Is that stupid? Naive? Ridiculous? Yes. Yes to all of it.

I spent yesterday vacillating between praying for clients and worrying to fever blister levels about money, spending 182.00 on a garage door opener, being pissed off that I had to do it, being pissed off that there wasn’t a man in my life, with a joint checking account and benefits who could help me with this…god. pathetic. But then I got a few more clients yesterday. One of my ladies gave me a 50.00 Christmas gift. It was better.

Breathe.

But I still don’t know whether or not to just hire someone or try to do it myself. I have two more people left to call, but they will cost. Hopefully less than the Lowes contractor. so that’s still an option.

Homeownership.

gottafuckingloveit.

OH. and here’s a little nugget. My homeowner’s warranty expired last month. I was going on the month that I bought the house, when actually the previous owners purchased the warranty when they first put the house on the market. I don’t have the extra 500 bucks to throw out for a new one right now. Not until taxes come in the spring. Let’s all just cross fingers!

I have an early morning meeting at work today, so I need to chop chop. Going to Carpenter Square to see their holiday show tonight. I have three friends acting in it. We’ll see. The director has tried to weave this bullshit connecting thread to Hamlet into it. good grief. It’s a HOLIDAY SHOW!!!! But I’ll get to hang with Rhonda and talk shop then home. Free ticket. wahoo!!! I’m considering staying in for the weekend as well. Big 12 football championship tomorrow night, but maybe…maybe I’ll just stay home watch from here, and get out my paints and be crafty with the cats. maybe I will.

Happy Friday to you Normals! Enjoy your day!!!

  1. First, you are none of the things you are alluding that you are. Pathetic? Far cry.Stupid? Silly, yes, for thinking stupid. There is NOTHING wrong with wanting…needing….help now and then. And there is nothing wrong with wishing that the helper was a constant so that you wouldn’t have to call half of Oklahoma.Second, Is your homeowner’s warranty the same as insurance? If not, would your insurance pay for garage door opener replacement?

  4. I would volunteer Chris, but really, unless it involved gigga watts and ram or memory (or Star Wars related), he’s useless. You know…even if you had that special someone, doesn’t mean he’d be handy around the house. I love Chris, but Lord does it scare me when he picks up the drill or a hammer…or a saw…or…just fill in the blank.
