Austin moves in today. I worked my hiney off this weekend and cleared out his room and closet and chest of drawers. Alllll that shit, stuff, clothes, very valuable posessions, is now in the office laying five feet deep on the futon. I worked till late last night, in spurts, putting things up, rearranging space that hasn’t been used since I moved in, putting things in trash bags for a garage sale. His room is empty, clean bedding awaits his arrival. I even fixed the floor lamp my own self by putting in a new light bulb holding thimgyamajigger inside it. This required a trip to the hardware store and use of a screwdriver. I felt very accomplished last night.
I also got the remains of the gazebo out to the curb on Sunday, that was picked up IMMEDIATLY by some scavanger people. Whatever. It’s gone. The landscaper is coming this week to level down my yard. I didn’t get the funky pavers dug up, but whatever. Maybe this week that will get finished before he gets here…if not, oh well. I just want it done so that I can get some grass growing, get the garden built and start planting things in the dirt!
It’s that beautiful time of year, here in The Plains, where we get graceful morning breezes, perfect temperatures and then at the blink on an eye, crazy storms! I love it. I had the house wide open yesterday, airing everything out and I walked into the living room and saw that Kikimama and Sammy were perched. Awfully close to each other. Not hissing at each other and staring at the floor. (oh LORD please not a carcass. My roommate hasn’t arrived yet and that is now officially HIS JOB) I walked in and Bobs-your-uncle if there isn’t a solid grey boy kitty, looks about a year old, laying out in the floor playing with the catnip. He’s meowing (which is wierd because mine don’t really ever make noise, hissing and purring that’s it, unless we’re in the car) and caterwalling and meowing. He comes in, eats a snack, lays in the floor, come flops in my lap…Seriously? No. I cannot have four cats. NO. He and I have a visit about it and I’m pretty sure he lives at another house. No collar. But mine don’t wear them either…I finally just kicked him out with the other boys and closed up the house. Kind of broke my heart a little but he’s gone this morning.
Apparently word is on the street that we’re in the “ya’ll come on in” business over here!
In other news, Gert starts her externship today! Wahooo! The final step in completing this adventure. Getting back into the groove of sleep/waking/standing/ will be kind of a bitch, but I have no doubt that she’ll ease on down this road, too.
That’s it for me. We have to be at work early today for a meeting, so I’ve got to get my lunch made…what am I taking? and get ready for the day. Have a fabulous one out there…
