Bla Bla Monday

Weighed in this morning…I knew it was going to be ugly. Gained 1.2 but ok. I ate everything that wasn’t tacked down this week due to moon cycles and work drama and drank a large amount of celebratory beverages on Saturday night for Joe Bank’s Birthday.

This week, I’m inspired. I’ve worked in my yard this weekend, sneezed my fool head off, but getting my body moving. I’m commiting to the Y at least twice this week, maybe more.

I’ve crossed off a few of my New Years List. Cross off #3-did that this morning. Opened a savings account. Mine only. It was a measley little deposit, but I am proud and on my way…#12 and 13 we took care of last weekend. And lastly, but not leastly #20 is done. . . kind of.

For Homecoming Week at my university, we’ll be doing a reader’s theatre production of Steel Magnolias. I directed it for my senior seminar project and at least three of the original cast members will be in it. Including myself as Truvie. November 3rd is the date, one performance. While this isn’t what I had in mind when I wrote the list, I figure it counts. And there’s a lot of the year with shows that need casts…so who knows what will happen on that front.

That’s about all I have for today. Heading to the Ace Hardware for fresh birdseed, a sprayer for the yard weeds and maybe a trip to the Autozone for new floormats for Bella. Finally named the car. I’ve never named my cars before, but since this is the first NEW one, it was deserved. Have you named your cars?

Happy Birthday Joe

Marshall:They just pay me to drive the limo, sir. I’m not here to tell you who you are.
Joe Banks: I didn’t ask you to tell me who I am.
Marshall: You were hinting around about clothes. That happens to be a very important topic to me, sir. Clothes, Mr…
Joe Banks: Banks.
Marshall: Banks. Clothes make the man. I believe that. You say to me you want to go shopping, you want to buy clothes, but you don’t know what kind. You leave that hanging in the air, like I’m going to fill in the blank, that to me is like asking me who you are, and I don’t know who you are, I don’t want to know. It’s taken me my whole life to find out who I am, and I’m tired now, you hear what I’m saying?

Luggage Salesman:This is our premier steamer trunk, it’s all handmade, only the finest materials. It’s even watertight, tight as a drum. If I had the need, and the wherewithal, Mr. Banks, this would be my trunk of choice.
Joe Banks: I’ll take four of them.
Luggage Salesman: May you live to be a thousand years old, sir.

Joe Banks:I have less than six months to live. The Waponis believe they need a human sacrifice or their island is going to sink into the ocean. They have this mineral your father wants so he hired me to leap into their volcano.
Patricia: What?
Joe Banks: You’re not going to make me say that again, are you?

Patricia:I wonder where we’ll end up?
Joe Banks: Away from the things of man, my love. Away from the things of man.

Joe Banks: I tell you one thing, though. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we’re gonna take this luggage with us!

Things I’ve GOT to get finished this weekend

I have GOT to get my taxes turned in…I have my receipts and all the other crap one needs…it’s just a matter of getting it to the person!

It’s going to be in the high 70’s on my two days off, so I’m hoping to get out and get to working in the yard. “Open” it for the season. Pull weeds, till dirt, maybe plant some stuff. At least sweep/power wash the patio and get the furniture out there…

Doing some home hair tonight after work. Tomorrow is Joe Bank’s Birthday, so something in the evening, brunch with my mom on Sunday at 11. (too early, but they’re driving back to Arkansas) then hopefully on with my day.

What are you doing this weekend?

Dreams…

S.L.U.R.P. to us all…..

Huzzaah and Happy Day.

No Title Wednesday

Wednesday is my long day. I don’t have to go in until 11, but I stay until 8. I switched up my schedule at the beginning of the year. I used to work 12-8 on Wednesday and Thursdays, and frankly it worked, I was pretty busy, but it ate my entire week. There was no time to do anything. Get home at 8, try to get dinner, throw in a load of laundry and hit the bed. No meeting friends for dinner, or drinks, no movie watching. So, I think, I’ll fix it. But now I’m wondering if I should change it back a little…I just haven’t been as busy a I want to be and I want to set some realistic goals for myself on this…Our chemical prices go up on Monday for all the salons. Colors, perms, and even the waxing is going up about 5 bucks per service. The cost of product has gone up, and the admin had called around and we were the cheapest in the metro area price-wise on color. They hadn’t had a price increase on the menu in about 5 years so it is due…That should help out the paycheck a little.

Have to say I was a little annoyed that it was a rerun on Gilmore Girls last night. This season is KILLING me and they are just dragging out the execution. wa wa waaaaaaaaa. But apparently there is a petition going around to save it for yet another year…huh. Don’t know how I feel about that. Pretty sure this horse is dead on it’s feet, so to speak.

Speaking of petition….Studio 60 anyone??? Sigh. I’m such a fan of The Sork. I’m not the only one. Joe Banks sent me this feel free to join the battle with us:

We’ll be the very model of a fanbase for a TV show,
We’ll post and spread the word around about our fav’rite Studio,
Just click the link and add your ink and you won’t have to stop to think
We’ll have the time to take a drink
While we’re promoting Studio!

Ok. I tried that petitionspot site and it wouldn’t load. But go look at This One…

Meanwhile, can I tell you how EXCITED I am that it’s Bracket Time??? I love March Madness…it is perhaps my favorite sporting event of the year. I love filling out my brackets, love watching the crazy upsets in the first round, there’s always a big one somewhere. This year, I’m thinking it will be Creighton, Winthrop and Gonzaga. . . It’s a crazy mix. Only one state school is in the Dance and it’s Oral Roberts University. Don’t scoff…they’re supposed to be really good!! I’ll keep an eyeball on them as well.

It’s going to be 80 degrees here today. I hope you get some spring weather whereever you are. Go outside, stand in the sun and breathe it in. Nothing but good things in March. For everyone!!

Huzzaah to you all!.

Another Kizz Bites The Dust

My phone rings at the crack of early this morning and I see from caller i.d. it’s Kizz, I immediately think “oh no…” and when I answer there is a noise that I cant define. It’s either wailing or laughing…wait…no…it’s crying…fuck. Something happened to Em…..huh…..yes I can talk to you for a bit….what? You fell down? Oh thank GOD!

Now. This sucks because she really broke her belbow. Not all sticky outy Joe Theisman kind of break, but still. At the time however, we were dealing with “FUCKING OUCH” and hands scraped and knee looking not so good and just more crap than one needs on a Tuesday morning.

I apologized profusely because…my immediate thought was “oh GOD, her dog.”

NOT, “OH GOD her dad. Oh GOD her mom. Oh GOD her million connections in NH…nope. I went straight for the dog” We laughed a bit about that, and when we hung up she said she was going to get looked at.

Her voicemail said cuts, scrapes, and broken elbow which needs to be in a sling and an ortho person should look at it…all a little vague but for me the ER lost all credentials when George Clooney quit working there.

SO…Go. Send well wishes. Send speedy recovery magic. Send whatever you can cuz Kizz fell down and go boom.

Sorry sistah for your pain. Would that I lived next door and we could make it a great excuse to sit on the couch, watch the entire collection of the Creek, and just play catch up…as it is I’m wishing you the speediest of recoveries.

Love love love you BIG!

Ten Things Tuesday: Bits ‘Bout Me

I think the hardest things about Ten Things is coming up with a topic. I have been thinking about a few, trying to mentally jot down a list to peruse when the time came. It didn’t work out as I’d planned, so I’m doing this old stand-by.

1) I was born at 12:12 on a Tuesday with a full moon. (I have crazy love for the full moon.)

2) I have cut off two of my fingers in a tragic snow cone incident when I was 13/14, sliced off a chunk of my thumb with a mandolin slicer thing about a year ago and broke my foot while on tour and living in Indiana. (never thought of myself a accident prone though…)

3) I took ten years of dance as a child. (Tap, Jazz, Ballet. I quit right before I went to point…thank GOD)

4) I’ve been a witness in a murder trial.(my next door neighbor was shot and killed by her live in/husband/lover. I heard it and called the police and immediately Mrs.Kravitz’d my way to the door and watched him leave…Testifying was the single most terrifying thing I’ve ever done.)

5) I can type up to 90 words per minute when I’m in the zone (and by zone I mean having an office job where all I do all day is type. I like to type.)

6) I love tv. (I pine for the day when I can have the uberset in my house. Big nice flat panel hanging on my wall…slurp)

7) I had/have an obsessive passion for Princess Diana.(I was 11 when they married. Her train on the wedding dress, made by the Emmanuel’s, was 24 feet long)

8) I talk in my sleep…Loudly and clearly. (ask anyone who’s toured with me…it’s a frightening experience the first time!)

9) I can play quarters with the best of ’em. (does everyone know this drinking game? It’s my fav. I can do it all night long…now I won’t make it every time, but I never get bored with it!)

10) I can make a perfect duck bill out of my top lip. (there is no explanation for this one. I’ll post a pic sometime this week…ha!)

Huzzah and Happy Tuesday!
