What with my entire family (sans Bonus Mom) leaving the state and dropping hints about as subtle as an anvil about me moving, I got to thinking about what I’d miss about this state. Here are a few. Ten to be exact.
1.) Friends. Bette sang it best, Ya Got To Have Friends!! My friend base is so spread out that I know I can keep people without having them geographically, but there’s a core here that keeps me sane and keeps me grounded, face to face.
2.) Gas Prices. I know their high everywhere, and especially here right now, but even then I’m only paying 2.70 per gallon. How much are you paying?
3.) Speaking of prices, let’s talk about beer prices! 1.25 long neck bottles. With the highest being 2.00 at most venues. That my friends does NOT suck.
4.) Oklahoma Weather. Spring storms, tornadoes, crazy winter watches with more ice than snow. The first snowflake that causes the ENTIRE city to shut down! LOVE IT!
5.) My boyfriend David Payne, emmy-award-winning-storm-chaser-morning-weather-guy-on-channel-4.
6.) Sonic. I love being able to go get a “coke” anytime day or night. Within reason. And by “coke” I mean anything from a cherry limeade, to peach ice tea to cherry vanilla creme sprite to an actual coke. diet with lime please.
7.) Those Sonic guys on the commercials. They are my favorite. I crack up laughing out loud at every commercial.
8.)Griffin’s syrup. Or any Made In Oklahoma product. Schwans chili, Cain’s coffee, yumm-o.
9.)The Great State Fair of Oklahoma. Corn Dogs. Fried Cheese. Expensive draught beer. Mullets the size of Texas.
10.) The Red Dirt. Our mothers cursed it when we ran around outside with our white socks. There’s not enough Clorox in the WORLD to counteract that. It’s beautiful.
Having listed all these, I’m so not moving. To another house when I buy one, but that will probably be within a 30mile radius of where I am now. However, it’s nice to remember why we love where we are. And if we don’t. . . why are we there???
Huzzuah and Happy Tuesday and I love George Clooney.

Yep. Those are pretty much the things I miss. But I would have to add Rotel into the food product category (even though it’s from TX).Oklahoma Live Music. I miss that.Or being close enough to run down for Texas Live Music. Family and friends. Miss that the most. And sky.And friends. And family.*les sigh*

Might I add… Cowboys. Sissy: “Your a real cowboy ain’t ya?” I got my monthly dose of Urban Cowbay more ways than one this weekend. Oh, I love that. He is now the Urban Cowboy… totally cool nickname. Anyway, John Travolta ladies! In that movie he is everything we need. the way he locks his jaw when he dances and gives that fierce hard pull when he swings you. My God, can he swig a beer and Lord knows how I have an affinity for tasting beer from a man’s mouth. Its TOOOO early for this kind of talk. 8:00 in the big town and I am already “horny pooky.”Cowboys Zelda. And Trailors…. for heavens sake. We else would you comp a squat? This is your home. You have been far and lived other places but this is your home. And it always will be. No matter where they have gone or who might come to you later… you get to decide now.
