Bits and Blogs

Trying to reclaim my life after rehearsal/show stuff. Totally missed Ten Things. Again. To make up for it, I am giving you bits of fun. The four people that I KNOW read this, well you’ve already seen it. For those of you that could possibly be out there who haven’t, go directly to Kizz’s blog and have a looksee. She has the most amazing gift of words. And photos. Check it out.

Also, my friend and ex tour partner from the Land O’Goshen is online in a funny commercial. Go check his blog out and here’s the link for that. Wait for it to load fully, and you’ll see his sweet face.
There really is no acting involved in this thing he’s doing. Totally, one hundred percent Mike. Funny ha ha.

The plans for resurrecting the show are on hold. After we struck the set, stored the pieces and finished the cursing of the rain, the director and I met up with some friends at Henry Hudson’s. I think I covered that previously. Anyway, we are thinking of doing the show again, in the Fall, in El Reno at the Elks. (i know. I know. it can’t possibly get more grassroots that this can it?) She did a dinner theatre/fund raiser last year for a scholarship fund that raised over 3000 bucks…and we think this would be a perfect venue. No more snotty ass Yukon people. No more crazy bitchy Arts and Humanities Council (which i found out consists of THREE PEOPLE) She’ll probably have to recast a few roles, but so be it. So that’s that. I’d like to work with some local theatres around the metro area, and will start looking for auditions after I catch my breath.

So, that’s it for me. Oh, I cut my hair all off yesterday. Well, I didn’t do it. Amanda did, but I am totally diggin it! As soon as I get some pics, of that and of the play, I’ll post em!

till then, Huzzuah. Happy Wednesday and I love George Clooney. (have you seen it yet? slurp.)

Rain On Me

The Saturday evening show was cancelled due to rain. It was pretty bad and the lightening was awful. There was “NO BACKUP PLAN” for this because according to the board members (all three of them) “it’s never happened before. . .” I have to say, I was so sad, angry, disgusted, annoyed and everything else about this. All that rehearsal time for TWO shows was crap, but for ONE….damn it. My phone was blowing up with text’s, I was trying to get thru to EVERYONE I’d invited. Three car loads arrived anyway as we were loading up the set pieces. After we got all of everything distributed back to where it needed to be, the director and I went to Henry Hudson’s and closed it down. We hatched a plan to do another show, maybe in the fall. We’ll see how that works out.

To all of you who were coming on Saturday, or who came on Saturday, Thank you so much for your support. It sucked that it worked out that way.

I’m enjoying my first weekend back with much sleep and relaxation. Going out to find some good coffee, and get the cats new collars that won’t flip off at a moments notice, then back here to putter around and get ready for my week.

There’s No Business Like Show Business

Opening Night. We’ve got weather issues, line issues, still haven’t worked with all the set pieces and my mystic tan that i paid an extra five bucks for, so it would be really dark, isn’t. BUT, I think we’ve got a “good little show” and it will be an evening of enjoyment! I took a pill and got the best sleep of my life and feel really good today. Time to leap!

Down to the Wire

Last night’s rehearsal almost did us in. And by us I mean the director and myself. It was hot. It was windy. We were working with the set pieces for the first time. Putting the lights up for the first time. Working with some props for the first time. and three or four of “these women”…BOARD MEMBERS I MIGHT ADD…just sat on their butts in their lawn chairs stuffing their faces with M&M’s. I’m not even kidding. I was amazed. Then I was pissed. Finally I said, “Ladies, are you on strike today?” which prompted them to get up and help pin the black material onto the set pieces….There was more snippy stuff that forced me to go to my directors house after we finished and drink a few beers.

It IS going to be a funny show. I am amazed at how this group of people, this Arts and Hummanities Council/Stage Door community theatre group has stayed alive with all the attitudes and crapppola, but it seems to and so will we.

It rained all night long here. Buckets of rain. But we’re expecting hot hot hot 90’s and dry for the rest of the week, so hopefully it’ll be ok for people to sit, not too muddy.

I’m loopy, gulping the coffee down like it is mother’s milk. I don’t remember when a vegetable has passed my lips. My body is sluggish from ingesting all the crappy food, but it will be ok. New week, new time, some exercising and back on program! I’m not even going to worry about that this week.

I hope your weeks is doing great things for you. . . or at least you are surviving it. If you haven’t seen Chrome’s Ten Things list this week, go take a cookie lookie. Get some new panties ready though because a little pee may very well come out.

Huzzuah, happy day. I love g.c.

Tuesday, sans ten things

I know there should be a list here. A nice funny list of ten things. But it’s not happining for this week. This week, we open the show. Our cast is in complete denial that will happen, as seen in the total lack of respect they have been showing. Such as not getting to rehearsal on time, hours late. Such as not taking the time to adjust their work schedules the WEEK OF THE SHOW, for dress rehearsals etc. The lady who was getting our phones for us is at the lake, still haven’t rehearsed with phones.

It is what it is friends.

Oh!! and my scene partner showed up last night walking gimped because she jacked up her back. So she was on darvaset and was pretty much no help….Not that I was perfect by any means but DANG!!!

So. This has been an interesting experience. These women in Yukon are so concerned about someone being “in charge” and having more power than the other, that they just bitch, fight, blame with every breath!!!! I am glad to have worked with a few of the women, and the director is awesome, but I’m ready to be FINITO with this gig!!!

I have to purge my negative ‘tude somewhere. I just soak it all in at night and try to stay focused and positive!! Wish me luck on that one!

Huzzuah and Happy Tuesday. I do love George Clooney!
(finally caught Ocean’s 13 last weekend with Gert and Joe. FUN-NEEE stuff. slurp. am ready for the boxed set!!)

Checking In

It’s been a horrific week here on Dublin Road. Truly. Both of us, all of us have just been broken into little pieces of hurt and scattered all around the house. It’s just been awful. It could have been worse, however, without all of your comments of support and good Nancy Drew vibes you’ve been sending out. Many many many thanks to all of you.

We’re starting to put ourselves back together. Sambo, while still missing his playmate and sister, has started to rebound somewhat. I’ve been in rehearsals every night, not getting home till after 10 then to bed till after midnight. This schedule is one I haven’t done in a looooooooong time so it’s kind of kicking my arse. Phil has been working at the bar, tending it while our daytime bartender has been out of town, so he’s worked about 10 days straight. I’m sure that has helped.

Every night I go to sleep and dream Charlotte comes home. Then I wake up and immediately start crying. . . I had forgotten how this feels. . . to hurt so deeply. But on the flip side, that means that I have remembered what it was like to love so deeply as well, and that is what I’m focusing on.

I’m really thinking of adopting a rescue kitten about the same age as Sambo for him to play with….maybe…after the play is over. I broached the subject to Phil last night and he about had a stroke. We have THREE. that’s plenty!!. . . To which I replied: what. ever.

We’re off tonight thru Saturday from rehearsing. Too many people gone. (it’s been ridiculous. we’ve had so few rehearsals with an ENTIRE CAST!!) I think Phil and I are going out Saturday, I’ll need to contact my Dad on Sunday then I rehearse Sunday night thru the end of the run, we go up Friday and Saturday. It will be a fun night, under the stars with an ice chest full of adult beverages sure to make us even funnier!! If you are in the area, mark your calendars. If you’re not, mark them anyway and say a prayer I don’t kill my scene partner!!! wink!!

Ok. I’m signing off. Gotta get ready early today. I’ve been up since about 6 when Sambo decided to lick my eyelids awake. It’s potluck at work today, so I did a fresh fruit salad and then I made taco pizza to take. That will be a bugger to haul, so I need time time time. and more coffee. I’ll be back online regularly sometime soon.

Time for an A.K.B….all kitty bulletin

Sweet Charlotte is missing. I saw her last night around 11:30 when I got in from Wicked. All the kids came in for a snack and then immediatly wanted back outside. That’s last time I saw her. The other three have been in and out of here all day…she’s never stayed away this long before so I’m scared. I’ve talked to the neighbors and drove up and down streets to see if she was squished somewhere…no luck.

While there are bigger problems in the world, I will ask for some kitty prayers from all of you please.

I am sad.

June 8

Today is here. Finally. A time to celebrate, to ponder.

22 years ago today, I cut my fingers off in an ice shredder working at a snow cone stand. Most every detail I can remember, clearly, except for what the fingers actually looked like. It was a horrifying experience, all in all, but I got Worker’s Comp and a boyfriend. The first time for both of those. Worker’s Comp checks went directly to Fashion Gal, and Bobby Hathaway, after a few moments of bliss, went directly to Deanne Holland.

Both things have stayed with me, molding, shaping my life the last 22 years. Strange but true. I even had a BH dream last night. Not a “he loves me, he really loves me” dream, but pretty much the same scenario all these years later. I love him, he loves some pretty skinny brunette, I pine away, he goes away.

I’m sure Dr. Ronnie would have a freakin’ field day with that one. We’ll let it lie for now.

In other news, rehearsals are going well. We’re off until Monday, when we work on the outdoor gazebo stage and are off book for the first time. Cross fingers and send luck.

I have a decent workday today and tomorrow, so that’s nice. I’ve had to miss quite a few hours of work for the show, and I’m sure to see it in the paychecks. Tomorrow I have tickets to Wicked. That’s exciting! I heard it was a great cast, great show. Looking forward to that. Sunday I get to hang with the Wonderboy. He’s here going to VBS with BonusMom at her church. So it’s gonna be a nice weekend.

Tonight, I do believe I may have a date with Gert to see my boyfriend. She just got home from a trip to Minnesota, so hopefully it’ll work out. I think this Ocean’s will be the best yet. Al AND George???? I mean come ON!!! I may have to visit the nervous hospital after it’s over. I’ll let you know.

Meanwhile, Huzzuah and Happy Friday people. Enjoy the weekend. Eat a snow cone in my honor. Go see the movie. Breathe in Breathe Out Move on.

and I love George Clooney.
