Fonzie

Remember yesterday when I said, “yesterday almost killed me?” I was mistaken. Today’s yesterday almost killed me. Good LORD but I’m tired.

I went in around 10 and mercy but there were a lot of girls that came in early on a Thursday. Pretty sure that’s called a support group. They, most of them, didn’t have to be there till noon, but came in for The Pilot’s appointment. Curiousity and Support, great combo.

So he came in…and kids. it was like Joe Cool Snoopy vs. Snoopy Red Barron. Like Odie vs. Garfield. Like Ralph Mouth vs The Fonz.

guess which one I was?

heh heh heh.

He did give me a good compliment, and the stunned look on his face when he saw me was pretty much priceless. And when I asked him if he was lost, what was he doing here, he explained his absence away with the fact that he’d gone back to his military barber along with his son. ok. whatever. There were many other little bits that he threw out there that lead me to believe that he is no longer in a relationship. He kept trying to get bits out of me and I just kind of sealed that vault immediately. You don’t get to have that. Which I actually told him on one part of our conversation. He did ask about the NYC trip, and remembered DETAILS from last years. DETAILS as to the show I saw, the place I ate…who’s the stalker wierdo?

After he checked out, he just kept talking. Moved me over to the side and started another conversation about our NBA team. He bought season tickets. I don’t reallly know what it means other than he’s going to be supporting.

He still looks reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy good. It’s a shame really. He’s too pretty. One time at one of my dad’s work parties out at this big country house, my mom told me these words. “don’t ever date a man that good looking.” I can’t remember the rest, but it lead to the “you can’t trust him to be faithful” kind of thread.

Not that I have dated ugly guys. Nor do I think it scarred me for life. However, that bit of advice has always been with me, and I think, has been why I always look a little deeper, and go for intelligence and humor and friendship. (not that I’m looking for humpback midgets, or anything…I’m just sayin.)

SO. Point is. I’m Joe Cool-0 Fonzie-1

Went down to Norman to comedy last night. Actually got to hang out with sweet little Amanda. She’s the daughter of one of my professors from college. Girl is all grown up and adult now. But still exactly the same which is beautiful. When I picked her up, I did a double check, “you are 21, right?”

“uhhh. Zelda. I’m 26.”

stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. ever.

Tonight is painting at MGirl’s new pad, prepping for her moving day tomorrow. So much going on. Fall Fest tomorrow night. Perfect weather for it. Chrome’s party tonight, which I will be attending in spirit. It’s another weekend chock full of fabulous! Hope yours is, too.

Huzzuah and Halakaleem!

The Second Coming

Yesterday almost killed me. We had class in the morning and learned a new haircut that is awesome. Then to work till 8. Now, I only did three clients. But the first two, were perms. On hair that was almost below the bra strap. Asian hair. Back to back perms.

It was fine, they were the most beautiful perms I’ve ever done. The girls were on the fence as to if they liked them or not. NO one remembers that in totally changing the actual bonds of the hair fiber, we have made it extremely fragile. No shampooing/conditioning for two days. 48 hours. (Legally Blonde anyone?) The first girl gets up and immediately pulls it back into a tight pony tail. Pulls the curl right out of the top. Her sister, the second client was just freaking out and needy and had all of these short layers in her crown that kept springing out like a roosters and took about a million end papers per rod. GAH. It was hard. and I don’t care if they hate it. it was gorgeous.

and I made commission.

I was keeping track of the commission and the rest of the week when I looked at my book for today. I hardly ever do that, look ahead for the week, just chance that I did yesterday. I saw the first appointment on my book today at 10:30 and saw that holy freakin hell, The Pilot returns.

Pilot was a flirty little texting thing that HE started last summer after I left Ex-Him. I stress that he started it because I’m so freaked about making things up in my head that aren’t there. See This Post. Anyways, there was just flirty texting. Nothing big. and one night we were talking and he says, “I’m at my girlfriends house in Houston. You’d better not text me anymore.”

like I’M THE STALKER FREAK!! Gah. gross. That was a year ago, give or take. and all of a sudden, here he is this morning. My last client, one of my FAVORITES came in for cut and color and she has been a major source of support this last year and she, bless her heart, wants me to really do something wack to his hair. carve my initials in his hairline or some such. Bwa ha ha ha ha. If only I was even an nth that angry! Or anything emotional about it.

Twill be interesting. This isn’t the same fragile ninny that he knew last year. Hell no it’s not! I’m sure the details of our appointment will be less scintillating than I’m making it out to be, but I’ll keep you updated nonetheless.

I found a new book last night.

Cue universal groan at my lack of will power against buying books.

It’s by Rob Bell. I think I’ve talked about him before. The redhead turned me on to him and I’ve been a fan ever since. He has a new one out and when I saw that, I jumped up from the big green chair, found shoes that matched (not on the first try however) and ran to the B&N and bought the last two copies. Immediately drove his copy over to him looking like twelve miles of dirt road. ROUGH is not even close. But whatever. Hung on the comfy couch for about a half hour then came home before I fell asleep at his house. Now. That would have been embarrassing. Anyways, my point, and I do have one is this. I came home and finished reading Ruby Sunrise for my play committee. I heart this story. and then fell asleep. Woke right up around 2am and tossed for an hour then got up and got online for awhile then read the new book for awhile then apparently I fell back asleep.

I hate not sleeping. Especially when I’m so tired. makes me put on cranky pants that give wedgies.

But I don’t have to go in till around 10 today, so I have a few extra minutes in the morning and that has made all the difference.

19 days till the election. Early and Often people. Early and Often.

happy happy day!

Happy Birthday Gert and Seth!!!

Gert, my bf for a quarter of a century,is another year wiser today.Turns out, my new friend Seth is as well. Gotta love me some Libras! (and both are veg!) Gert is here, local, and Seth is in NYC, being a funny funny man.

Here’s to you both, today. You make my life fuller, livelier, richer, and infinitely funnier. Here’s a little cyber party for both of ya. It’s a mix of both your likes! BTW, that chocolate cake is vegan!

getting ready for the party!

A few snacks and slurps…

a little funny ha ha!

a little music…

and me. I’m here at your party. laughing my ass off and something both of you just said
Happy Birthday Kids! I hope today brings you as much joy and you give to everyone else! Muah!!!

We’re Number One!!!

Yes. I will say it again. We’re Number One!!!

Not many people shouting this phrase this weekend…tragic Red River Rivalry.

Nope, I’m talking about Oklahoma being number 1 in the CHEAPEST GASOLINE! The Today show just said we are at 2.65 or somewhere in that area. BUT the 7-11 around the block from my house has it at 2.49. not to bad!

yes, 7-11 has has the alcohol in it, so it’s bad for your cars. It’s always the cheapest here in OKC. The good news is, if it’s that cheap there, the other places are almost affordable this week!!!

It’s rainy. It’s cold. It’s going to clear up for Fall Fest. I wish everyone a great day. Kizz, feel better babe. Chrome…post those photos! (she did a super-extra-happy-project at her home this weekend and I’m DYING for everyone to see it!!!)

Kizz got a buttload of stuff uploaded this weekend. go. Have a cookie lookie!
Had a great day yesterday. Went to my play committee and had some good things to say and picked up two new ones. Boeing-Boeing and Sealed For Freshness. This endeavor is turning into great fun and networking!!!

After I had already decided not to do anything but clean the house in preparation for Dad’s arrival on Tuesday, I got a call from the redhead asking me to help he and some of the comedy set to film a short. it was FUN!!! There were two other girls and he and I, plus the camera/director/man. I played the waitress. One line. But hey, it was FUN!!!!! have I mentioned that? FUN!!!

We were shooting on the patio of the bar where they do Monday night comedy…it’s closed on Sundays and turns out, no one had the owner’s number, but what the hell. We’ll be in and out in an hour and no harm no foul. . .

until right in the middle of a shot the fire alarm goes off inside. Then the firetruck shows up. then the OWNER shows up and the guys start their bumbling explaining away and all is cool and we are losing light by the second and finally…that’s a wrap. The whole thing edited is about a minute. if that. but silly fun. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon!!!

Today is gearing up and gathering things and putting together Fall Fest. It’s Saturday night. The WonderFam is coming into town, so that’s exciting! I love this event. I love gathering folks in one place and everyone playing and relaxing by the fire…good stuff.

Ok. I have to get ready. Happy Monday, ya’ll!!

Vice. not Miami.

Thanks for everyone who’s text/written/called to check in on my sanity this week. It was kind of a rough one, complicated and full of more questions than answers. But whatever, right? The worst part of it was I succumbed to chips and dip. real. not low or free in the fat area. and ate an entire california pizza kitchen frozen crispy crust pizza.

the whole thing.

How long to does one have to fight age old vices before one wins??? do they ever go away? God. It’s been a long long long time since I’ve binged like that. and yes, gross. I felt like shit. Still kind of do. So now, am fighting the urge to do a major cleanse. Another old old vice. Instead, I’m working on being normal. Breathing in and out on a regular basis. Going to the play committee this afternoon. Heading out for some Frontier Time and prepping for Fall Fest next weekend.

I went to see another play last night. World Of Mirth. Produced by the group at Ghostlight. The lead was freakin amazing. Quite frankly, there was only one other person in the cast who was as engaging as the lead. Everyone else paled. Even people I’d seen before and know their work to be solid. Pale. Pale Vampire Pale. (Oh. new ep of TrueBlood tonight!) Like this guy…seriously folks. He spent the ENTIRE SHOW in a dunk tank. caged. center stage. contained. and I was meta-mor-ized (as my friend M’lynn’s friend says!)

So, if you are local, please. Do yourself a favor. Get down to Paseo the next few weekends and catch a viewing. Support the local theatre. If anyone is interested in going, I’d go with you. not next weekend, but the next Friday, possibly?

If you aren’t local…I really freakin wish you were.

ps. I netflixxed Damian’s British mini series The Forsyte Saga.

i fell asleep during the first ep.

saltine dry.

but pretty pretty boy in a top hat and using his own dialect…makes for a reeeeeeely good No Pantie Sunday!

Ten Ten

Happy Friday ya’ll!

It’s going to be a grand one, and an even better weekend. I am busy, but by my own hand. All social and it includes friends and family and laughter and a new bed and new friends and stringing lights on a creek bank!

What’s on your plate?

Went to the theatre last night. The script is a “world premier” one that apparently was a winner at this theatre’s original script competition. Oh my, there was some editing needed. But a new friend of mine was in it and she looked STUNNING. My soul for those red shoes she wore in the first scene. Anyway, my friend and I were kind of commenting about a bit on stage, and out of nowhere the lead SAYS HER NAME. in the context of something like this, “while i was caught french kissing Rhoda behind the bleachers” and we both stopped and our eyes bugged out, and I mouthed, “are you fucking kidding me? did he just say your name?” and people know her because she is the A.D. of another theatre here and it was an almost sold out audience of about 90-100 people and I just ducked my head into my lap and started to laugh.

and then she snorted.
loudly.

that laugh.
that laugh where I’m choking all of the sound back but am sobbing uncontrollable. (some of you have seen this once or twice. I’m just sayin’)

OH my god. It was worth sitting through that thing for that moment!

and isn’t that what life is about? those moments that take you by surprise, and outshine all of the murky muck and make you laugh until you snort. or cry. or both? it’s affirming. A little gift from the Universe that says, “you’re doing things right. here’s a snack.”

Kizz gave us all a nice little snack over on 117 Hudson. Go look and read, please please read the Ryan Reynolds post. It’s worth the time. That guy is FUN-Knee.

I hope you get lots of snacks today.

Here’s a few for my own self…

New Flavors of Kool Aid

As Gert so succinctly put it in the last comments post…We’ve got to get me over this and under Damien.

Well yes. Yes we do. And you aren’t the first to ask about George…Carrie described him best as a Chanel suit…never goes out of style.

So…I give you…new flavors, and old classics.

And then there’s Chanel…
