Still With The Hangover

Emotional hangover, not a real one.
I’ve been awake since 3:45 this morning. My mind is RACING about stuff I have to get done.
register for Race for the Cure.
pay bills.
take out trash.
bla bla bla fishcakes.

So, instead of doing any of that right now I’m going for a walk. in just a few minutes.

lots going around in this ole noggin of mine…work was hellacious slow yesterday but today is good. I’ve got fun stuff going most of the week and a catering gig this weekend. time to get back into the swing of things…

off to find my walkin’ shoes. and drink more coffee. i love coffee about as much as I love George Clooney. i just do.

So So So GOOD!

It was magical. The entire weekend. Everything fell into place, we had enough money and some left over to hire a cleanup crew. Everyone seemed to really really enjoy themselves. We did have a touch of out of control…one of our classmates got crowned Mr. Hot Mess ’89 when he showed up so drunk, and kept drinking, and used foul horrible language, and generally offended the entire class. But that was Friday night and well…we still had all day long on Saturday! We had a small misshap with the pavillion at the park that I rented…we got there and another reunion had spread out and took over. Misti Lynn and I had no fight in us that day, but we had classmates who by god did and we got our pavillion back! HA. things just kept working.

I am having post party letdown…our class…those friends…it’s been the center of our brains, The Committee, for a long long time and now we’re a bit bereft. We are going to continue gathering maybe once a month…or more, because it was just too good not to. And while we here at the Circus KNOW that I hate any form of goodbye…it’s not just me. The Facebook has exploded with albums full of pictures, with words of thanks and kindness, and with wanting more more more. we are all just a little more aware that time has flown by, that friends are rare treasures and that we all pretty much hit the jackpot with that. We are blessed. This class that made my mother seriously contemplate retirement when we hit the 9th grade, this class…we are just blessed.

My pictures will appear here tomorrow night. Dad is coming tonight to stay over, and bring me okra! yummmm!!! Back to the salon, back to the drawing board, back to it all. I have got to get my house back in order. the office is giving me hives again. clean clothes. piles of papers. I have to get bills paid…i’ve ignored everything this last week or two and it’s time to refocus.

I will tell you that I am extremely happy. I will tell you that it was perhaps the best weekend of my life. and I will tell you more about that later.

Halakaleem and I love George Clooney!

I’m so hopped up on the juice of the weekend, I forgot to tell you that I got summoned for jury duty yesterday.
sigh.

A Night To Remember

you guys. you have absolutely NO IDEA how great this weekend turned out.

AH-MAZE-ING.

I’ve got pictures but not uploaded yet, and there are stories galore running rampant in my brain…everything will bubble to the surface and I’ll post great details. . . well maybe not every detail. . . but a lot of them for you tomorrow.

it was truly an awesome weekend.

AWESOME!!!

Oh so mighty. Oh so fine. We’re the CLASS OF EIGHTY NINE!!!

I’m on the couch, where I’ve been ALL DAY LONG, watching the emmy’s. I love you and I love George Clooney.

MUAH.

Reunion D-DAY!

I cannot possibly tell you, explain to you, make you understand how EXCITED I AM for this weekend!!! I know I’ve bitched and moaned since January or June about the work that has gone into planning this event. Darci, Misti Lynn, Steve and Alex and I have really become a cohesive team and I have to say…we’ve got a great weekend planned.

This morning, I slept late. Got kitties snuggled in with me, having coffee in the morning breeze. I’m doing laundry so that my house guest won’t sleep in cat hair. I’ve got the following errands to run. Catering kitchen to pick up my check from last weekend. Salon, need a braid in my bangs. Mall, shirt for tomorrow. Shoe Gypsy, my first pair of Tom’s. Bank for checks and bank bag and deposit mo money, then back here to get Misti Lynn and head to Sams for our food buying frenzy. Oh, I need to stop by the bar and beg some food warmer thingys too…

Tonight is homecoming at our new stadium. It’s going to be a HUGE deal! We are also expected to actually kick our opponents ass…not a bad thing either.

I will have my own camera and will post pictures too, but I have to say I’m totally excited for our photographer to work this weekend.

I’ll prolly not be around until Sunday or so…have great weekends. Stories to come!

Humble Pie

Nothing make one more humble than seeing ones self butt ass nekkid but for a showercap, sans makeup…standing on a towel and two slices of the tin foil…awaiting a nicely bronzed skinnybitch to come in and airspray their tan on.

I’ve never felt more handsome (pronounced homely)
or intersting (pronounced AH MAH GAWD!!!)

but as I said previously…it take a lot of effort to look like this.

it just freakin’ does

Love Thursday: Last Day! Good Books! Reunion!

I’ve been remiss at posting daily…you see, I’ve been sucked into the world of OUTLANDER by Diana Gabaldon.

yeah yeah yeah, everbody’s read them. I know I’m the last one on the bandwagon so this gushing will come as NO surprise to anyone but

AH MAH GAH IT’S SOOOOO GOOD!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE THURSDAY FOR GOOD BOOKS!

I’m not even turning the tv on when I come home! I’ve got tons to watch…and need to clean out the dvr in anticipation of Premiere Week that starts Monday…but I just canna pry myself out of the book.

sigh. I’m glad it’s thick *dirty!* and I’m glad there are more in the series and I’m glad Trisha brought it into the salon for me after she finished it. glad glad glad.

What else?

well hells bells. Let’s just go thru my maintainence debacle of the week. All week I’ve planned on getting my hair done, feet done, massage and a spray tan in prep for the reunion. Hair, thanks to Mgirl, is FABULOUS! the feet, I was doing today. The spray tan, tonight after work. the massage tomorrow morning. (Elephantsoaps gal is running a VERY affordable special of 40 bucks for 90 minuets or I probably wouldn’t indulge myself)

OK. Brakes screeching sound goes here. for one, I cant have the massage after the spray tan. no oils. flop. moved that to monday. I’ll need it more then anyways. Today, I need the feet scraping, BUT I can’t have them use the oil and lotion before the spray tan. well crap. that’s the best part, the rubbing? oh well. As Truvy says, “it takes a lot of effort to look like this”

So…today is my last day of the work week. Payday yesterday was…dismal. Woof. Thankfuly I had tips saved to deposit. Gah. Freaking September. But on the upside, my raise went into effect yesterday, that was really nice. and i was busy, even nicer still! Tonight I get a spray tan, and yeah. NO OILS! NO LOTIONS! who knew??? gah.

in other more gross news, PseudoSis1 was away on a business trip to DC this week and her house got robbed. This sucks in epic porportions…but that’s not all. This is the SECOND robbery she’s had this summer. suck suck suck suck suck. My heart goes out to her. I want alarm systems…for both of us!

Did I tell you I learned to SKYPE? Anyone have a webcam out there? let me know and we can have video phone calls. FOR FREE!!!

ok kids. i need another cuppa, then I have to go exfoliate my body from head to toe. Have a great Thursday…I love you. And I love George Clooney.

Amazing Grace

I’m glad that he’s no longer in pain, and suffering. I’m so glad that he gave us the work that he did, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, To Wong Foo, Outsiders…we aligned them with our own memories and they became part of our soundtracks…the theme’s to our proms.

Jennifer Grey said that he was a perfect mixture of “amazing grace and raw masculinity”
I wish I would have said that first. It’s perfect.

and when I think of his wife, high school girlfriend and with him to the end…breaks my heart. that’s some kind of love. . . some kind of wonderful.

Let me tell you, yesterday was a bit of my own personal amazing grace. My chores were done, enough so that I didn’t have any nagging voices in my head. I got up and went for a really good walk at the lake and hit the grocery. Came home and made a pot of soup and laid on the couch taking in eps of Mad Men, West Wing and reading some Outlander. I squeezed a nap in there too. I had the doors open and it was rainy and damp and cool outside…Sambo curled up on me and we didn’t much move all day long. Seriously. I couldn’t even get up to go to comedy last night!!!

I feel such relief for the reunion, that begins in T-minues 72 hours. Stress is a wonderful thing isn’t it? crazy. So things are good.

I want to have a great week at work. I do. Tomorrow morning I have class, which is hands on and will learn a new haircut. Tomorrow is also payday and the day my raise goes into effect. TODAY is the last day of the pay period and kids…I fear it to be dismal. It will pick up…it has to!

Happy Mon—wait. Happy Tuesday ya’ll!

ps…i’m not getting that golden retriever. I think it’s too big of a dog and I’m not ready yet. I’ll revisit this project in the spring. Thanks to all who chimed in! I am ready to be wrapped around a new schedule, and understand all the responsibility that goes along with it. I’d like to reinforce my yard a bit first and see how money is coming along thru the holidays before I invest, though!

Catering is Hard.

Ok so me with this whole two jobs thing? Nah. I’ve had it really easy up until now. The Festivites bartending gig has been what I’ve done, last night I worked for a catering company that my high school friend runs…

ok. damn. first off I wore the wrong damned shoes. Wedges. That was a mistake. I had no idea the amount of walking and standing I would do from five until midnight. so that sucked.

second off, when I bought my uniform this week, black pants white shirt, I was bloated so big one might have thought me middle name was Goodyear. Apparently I’ve peed. My pants were way too big falling off and the shirt was just stupid.

third off, it was raining. and so freakin humid inside the venue I was sweating balls ten minutes into set up.

I was working with another girl, who’d never done this before either. We’re both long time friends of the coordinater so that was the thing we had in common. This girl was fine, and I think with this event under our belt, when we work together again, we’ll be mroe in sync. Last night was rough though. Our personalities were oil and water. She didn’t smile. She was just very much a “servant” while I was very much a “participant” in the reception…make sense? But as we were finishing up the night she loosened up and I think it was just insecurities and stress…ugh. smile damnit, to our guests. remember what they are drinking. make some small talk about the shoes/earrings/lapel flowers. I just proceeded to do what I do and made some fun conversations. It was great fun, other than my feet/legs hurting so badly. (i know. i know. what was i thinking???)

there wasn’t a tip jar. my boss said, it just seems tacky for that to be there in the beginning…and yeah. I agree. this is a fancy pants reception with free wine beer and margaritas. it’s not a cash bar. but people were asking about it. finally they just started leaving money on the table and we just put it in a glass. now, I’m in this for the money. we know that. and at the other gig, it’s out there, the tip jars and whatnot. sometimes it rolls in and sometimes it’s 15.00 but I was annoyed last night because they obviously wanted to tip. and I just wonder, how much would we have made if one of us wasn’t in our bitter Mary Riley phase…oh and we split the tips between the 6 person team. we each got 20 bucks…but the groom tipped before the night was over so we all got another 40. at the end of the night 160.00 but damn it was a LOT of work. loading up. driving to the catering kitchen. unloading. cleaning and putting away… but by that time I had on flip flops and we had survived and we were laughing and drinking cold beer.

My boss and I wound up sitting in the catering kitchen talking, just the two of us until 3:15 in the morning. It was just good. I love reconnecting…and I must say it’s all because of the Facebook. It’s been kind to me.

My feet are worn out. but I finally slept, real sleep. I didn’t even muss the covers! I woke up with a cat or two and the rain outside. I’ve made coffee and opened the house. My plan is to get fully awake and to one last spic and span on the house before the final reunion planning meeting this afternoon at four…

Remind me…one of the things we talked about so much last night was the Sustainable Foods/Slow Foods movement that Gert’s been talking about, as has Chrome and Elephantsoap and Numskullery. I’m to tired to do it today…Happy Sunday, ya’ll.

grab another cuppa and relax a little.
OH and can I tell you how excited I am for NFL to start today?!?!

FOOTBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!
